Special Education – Mild Intervention Program Certification

            Loving Interactions

Taylor University’s Special Education – Mild Intervention program prepares and equips future educators to teach students with mild to moderate special needs. This certificate allows graduates to provide mild intervention for students with learning disabilities, autism, physical disabilities, emotional and behavioral disabilities, and developmental delays in general or special education, pre辽宁11选5开奖结果 through grade 12 classrooms.

At Taylor, we focus on teaching our students from a biblical perspective. This opens doors for our students to be witnesses of Christ—showing His love not just in words, but in action—through one-on-one and group interaction with these students.

            Special Preparation for Your Career

Taylor students begin practicing Mild Intervention in the classroom during their freshman year and continue through their student-teaching placements senior year. Having multiple field experiences during your time at Taylor will shape who you are as a teacher and give you ample time to learn from other students before you get your own.

Upon graduation and passing certification exams, you will be licensed by the State of Indiana to teach students in both general education and special education settings. The license can transfer to almost anywhere in the United States and makes you highly marketable as a teaching professional.

            Bring Special Olympics to Campus

Work as a referee, team host, scorekeeper, timekeeper, or skill session volunteer at Taylor’s annual Special Olympics basketball tournament, hosted in the Kesler Student Activities Center. Interact and make friends with people of all ages with special needs, learning their unique perspective on life and encouraging them to enjoy the game and play their best.

            Autism Studies & Intervention

Education majors interested in the Special Education curriculum can also add an Autism Studies and Intervention minor by adding a few additional credits. Talk to your Admissions Counselor for more information.
